On the same day the Kansas City Fire Department released the 911 tapes from the murder-suicide of Chiefs player Jovan Belcher and his girlfriend Kasandra Perkins, the NFL announced some positive news. Zoey, the 3-month-old daughter of Perkins and Belcher, will be supported by the league through college.

According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, she is the beneficiary of the collective bargaining agreement signed last year. Zoey's guardian or her estate will receive $108,000 a year. When she is 5, she will receive $48,000, then $52,000 a year until she is 18 or 23, depending on if she goes to college.

Belcher shot Perkins on Saturday morning, then kissed her and apologized. He then apologized to his mother, who was staying with the couple to help with Zoey as they worked on their problems, and then kissed Zoey. He then went to the Chiefs' training facility and shot himself in the head in front of head coach Romeo Crennel and general manager Scott Pioli.

Belcher's mother, Cheryl Shepard, said Wednesday that Zoey is doing "fine." Shepard didn't add much else but to say that she herself hasn't eaten or slept much since the tragedy. The Chiefs attended a memorial service for Belcher on Wednesday.
