Everybody hurts, sometimes. Here's the 2.1 volume of the Wrap, covering all Friday news and some Saturday updates.

• Jonathan Dwyer looked terrific in his last couple of games but he might not be healthy enough to matter this week. Dwyer is dealing with a sore quad and had limited practices Thursday and Friday; it doesn't sound like he'll play this week. With Rashard Mendenhall also out, look for Isaac Redman to get the start Sunday against the Giants. (This also looks like a week where Ben Roethlisberger and Co. will chuck it all over the yard; have fun with the Steelers passing game.)

The Saints were talking about a hand and hamstring injury with Darren Sproles earlier this week, but the bombshell dropped on Friday. Sproles has a broken hand and is out indefinitely after having surgery; all we know for sure is that he won't play Monday against Philadelphia. There's no easy plug-and-play fill-in for New Orleans to look to, given the unique skill set of Sproles. Pierre Thomas should get more touches, sure. Chris Ivory and Mark Ingram could see additional work, but neither one of them offers juice in the passing game.

(Saturday update: the early timetable on Sproles is 4-6 weeks. In shallow leagues, you have to consider dropping him. In deeper pools, it's a much harder decision.)

Although Jordy Nelson (hamstring) missed the full practice week, the Packers consider him a game-time decision for Sunday's home match against Arizona. You wonder why the Packers would take any chances with Nelson in this spot - they're up against an ordinary opponent and the bye beckons in Week 10. Be ready with other options, and bully for you if you already have Randall Cobb or James Jones locked and loaded.

Calvin Johnson (knee) missed practice all week and his status won't be known until game-time at Jacksonville. According to Eric Edholm of Pro Football Weekly, Johnson might be limited to third-down work even if he does play. We'll see what the Lions tell us Sunday.

Adrian Peterson (ankle) was held out of Friday's practice for precautionary reasons, but he's fully expected to play at Seattle. It's a challenging assignment, par for Minnesota's second-half course.

Although Donald Brown had a full Friday practice, his knee is still an issue and he was downgraded to questionable Saturday. Even if Brown is able to go against Miami, look for him to share work with Vick Ballard.

Brandon LaFell (post concussion) is considered doubtful for Week 9, a shame with Washington's patchwork secondary on the other side. Spikeless Steve Smith and tight end Greg Olsen take a step forward in value, and Louis Murphy figures to start for LaFell.

Dez Bryant (hip) was back at work Friday and context clues point to him playing Sunday night at Atlanta. I'd roll with him. DeMarco Murray (foot) is out for another week, however, so it's the Felix and Tanner show in the backfield again.

Context clues point to Ryan Tannehill (knee) starting at Indianapolis, but it's no sure thing. Even in two-QB leagues, you should have a more solidified option. The Dolphins have a steady No. 2 in Matt Moore, so they don't have to force anything with Tannehill.

Ben Tate (hamstring) won't play against Buffalo, so if you're hoping to get lucky with a backup runner, we present Justin Forsett to you. That said, the Texans have been running Arian Foster into the ground all year, even in the fourth quarter of blowout games. The Tate speculation plays early in the year have come up empty.

Although Laurent Robinson (post concussion) is ready to go, underrated Cecil Shorts will remain Jacksonville's starting split end. Shorts is the only trustworthy element to this passing game right now.

Ahmad Bradshaw (foot) had a limited session Thursday then didn't practice Friday. He's listed as questionable. He's played hurt for the majority of his career, so it's likely he'll be a factor again in Week 9.

Doug Baldwin (ankle) should play for Seattle, welcome news with Ben Obomanu (wrist) on IR and Braylon Edwards (knee) ruled out.

Alshon Jeffery (hand) isn't ready to return yet but the Bears might have him for Week 10.

With Coby Fleener (shoulder) ruled out, Dwayne Allen might see some extra targets against Miami.
