Before this Sunday, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan threw just three interceptions, fewer than Aaron Rodgers or Eli Manning. The Oakland Raiders had zero interceptions, ranking them last in the league along with the Detroit Lions.
But during the Falcons 23-20 win, Ryan threw three interceptions in the first half.
The good news for the Falcons is that the interceptions didn't completely torpedo their chances. One pick led to a fumble by Darren McFadden, another led to a field goal, and the third meant a Raiders touchdown. The picks kept the Raiders in the game, but didn't knock the Falcons out. They kept their undefeated record with a 55-yard field goal by Matt Bryant as time expired.
The bad news? Matty Ice was picked off three times by one of the worst secondaries in the league. It's a problem the Falcons will need to address as they head into their bye week.
