Play of the year? Seth Smith turns in amazing catch, robs Aaron Hill at wall

Ryan Roberts and the Arizona Diamondbacks would ultimately get the last laugh when his two-out, three-run homer in the ninth inning dealt the Oakland A's a crushing 9-8 defeat on Friday night.

But apart from his pitching staff blowing an early six-run lead, Seth Smith really had nothing to hang his head about. Not only did the A's left fielder go 3-for-4 with a homer at the plate, but he also turned in one of the defensive plays of the year with the first robbery of the night.

Check out what happened when Arizona's Aaron Hill hit one to the left field corner:

"Shoot, I didn't think he had a chance at that," A's manager Bob Melvin told reporters. "I didn't know he jumped that high."

Smith, who previously played for the Colorado Rockies, has made a habit of sticking a thorn in Arizona's side. His two-run homer in the sixth brought his career line against Diamondbacks pitching to 10 homers and 31 RBI with a .908 OPS over 58 games.
