Jo-Wilfried Tsonga can take comfort in the fact that Roger Federer also failed to capitalize on multiple match points against Novak Djokovic in a Grand Slam and recovered without incident. That's about the only solace the Frenchman can take today after coming so close to knocking off the world No. 1 in front of his hometown fans. Instead, points like this one will be playing through his mind for months.
Tsonga wasn't helped by netting an overhead but can you blame him? He hit three shots that should have won the point and Djokovic not only guessed right on them, he returned them well enough to force Tsonga to be less aggressive with his shots. Trying to get a shot past Djokovic is like playing tennis a poorly-dressed Sisyhpus. No wonder he hasn't lost his last 26 Grand Slam matches.
Saving four match points doesn't hurt either, of course.
